What is interaction placement?

When adding interactions to the bulb, the interactions will display on the sidebar by default. However, instructors can adjust the placement for interactions to place them overlay on the video or create hot spots on the video.
The versatility of interaction placements allows instructors to deploy interactions more strategically. Interactions can be used to highlight crucial parts of the video, add supplemental information directly on top of the video, or display multiple interactions to learners simultaneously. Please see more information about adjusting interaction placement in this article below.

How to adjust placement for interactions?

  1. After configuring the content of the interaction, click the Placement tab to go to the placement settings.

  2. Click on the gray screen to select the placement for the interaction. Instructors can preview the placement on the right side of the screen.

  3. (Optional) Click Advanced to expand the advanced settings for interaction placement. Please note that only the interaction overlay on the video can adjust the advanced settings.

    1. Left & Top: Adjust the distance between the interaction from the left border and the top border.
    2. Width & Height: Adjust the width and height of the interaction.
    3. Expandable: Learners can expand this interaction to full screen by clicking on the expand icon.
    4. Collapsible: Learners can minimize this interaction by clicking the collapse icon.
    5. Dark mode: Change the interaction color scheme to dark mode.
    6. Opacity: Adjust the background opacity of the interaction.

Important notes for adjusting interaction placement

Avoid adding interaction after the discussion or web embed interaction in the same group at the same placement.

Unlike other interactions, discussion interaction will not fade away after learners submit their responses. This is because the discussion forums allow learners to submit multiple comments and reply to others' posts, so PlayPosit lets learners stay on the discussion forum after they submit their comments. This behavior will cause the discussion interaction to block learners from accessing other interactions that are placed after the discussion interaction in the same group at the same placement.
Also, the web embed interaction does not require the learner’s input and will not fade away until learners click the play button to resume video playback. This behavior will also cause the interactions placed behind the web embed interaction to become inaccessible for learners.
To avoid these issues, Please place the discussion interaction or web embed interaction at a different place than other interactions in the group, or place them as the last interaction in the group.

Avoid adding pause interactions and/or web embed interactions in the same placement in a group after other interactions.

When the pause or web embed interactions are added after other interactions at the same place in the same group, they will not pause the video playback or be displayed to learners.
To avoid this, please place the pause or web embed interaction at different places or separate them from the interaction group.

If multiple Pause interactions are displayed simultaneously, learners will advance when they click on any of the continue buttons.

If there are multiple pause interactions on the screen, they will all fade away when learners click on the continue button on any one of the pause interactions. Instructors may consider adding a poll interaction to the group to ensure learners have completed reading all the information and are ready to move forward. The poll interaction will also work as a blocker that prevents learners from accidentally closing the pause interactions.
