Supported YouTube settings

The YouTube video must meet the following requirement to be used in PlayPosit.

  • Public or Unlisted
  • No age restrictions
  • Embeddable
  • Viewable on learners' internet environment

Don’t place interactions at the very beginning or the very end of the video

Due to loading and initializing, the timing pass back from the YouTube video might be slightly inaccurate. The difference will not affect the interactions in the Bulb but may cause the interactions placed at the beginning or end of the video segment not to display correctly. To prevent this issue, please leave around 0.5 seconds in the beginning and the end of each YouTube video segment in the bulb when inserting interactions.

Manually fetch the captions

While the captions from YouTube can be displayed in PlayPosit without additional steps, the YouTube Caption will be blocked by the scrub bar when displaying on the player.

To prevent this from happening, instructors can follow the steps in this article to fetch captions to the Bulb manually. Once the captions are added to the Bulb, they will display properly when toggle on by learners.

If the instructor is using the free PlayPosit account that does not have the ability to fetch captions, please inform learners to open the sidebar when the captions are blocked by the scrub bar.

NOTES:
  • To enable the transcript functionality in PlayPosit, instructors must manually fetch the captions. Please follow the instructions in this article to fetch the caption.
  • The auto-generated captions from YouTube will not be fetched to the Bulb automatically. Please follow the instructions in this article to fetch the caption.
